In 2005, when Home Staging began to become familiar to many, Val thoroughly researched the industry and, with her background in art and marketing, the concept seemed to be a natural career transition. In 2006, while staging was a relatively unknown concept in the northeast, she founded her company, Staged 2 Sell NY, and set about educating Realtors and sellers alike through her countless blogs and public forums concerning Home Staging.
In 2008, Val launched two New York chapters of the American Society of Home Stagers and Redesigners (ASHSR) as an effort to educate and unite other Home Stagers in Manhattan and on Long Island through monthly meetings in each location. She also blended the members from both chapters for a community service project involving a Habitat for Humanity house that was near completion on Long Island. In addition to staging the home, the Stagers solicited for and received (from many sources) free landscaping, a complete house full of furniture, all accessories including draperies, lighting, artwork, dishes & glassware, pots and utensils, bedding and towels, and even the pantry and refrigerator were stocked with food and necessities. It was during this project that Val became more familiar with Moe Scarcello who was a member of the LI chapter. They discovered that they enjoyed working together and, as it became very apparent that they shared the same design aesthetic, they decided to blend their talents and work together on future staging projects that their businesses collectively brought in.
In 2013, La Belle Maison LLC was created to fulfill a need for high end staging that would solely serve the Luxury Home market on Long Island’s Gold Coast, the Hamptons, Manhattan and Westchester County. LBM will stage cottages to castles from Sutton Place to Southampton and beyond!
Val and Moe have continued their support for stagers and the staging industry by serving as President and President Elect of the Real Estate Stagers Association (RESA) Long Island Chapter.
